Philip Cooke is the Alpha of the Montana Wolf Pack; they have served as the head enforcers for the Joint Council for over a hundred years mostly because of their ability to remain neutral. But when a call from Richard Santiago, Alpha Apex of all shifters in North America, summons him to hunt down a rogue lion, his options of remaining neutral disappear.

Once in Seattle, Philip meets Alpha Mate Sean and Alpha DeMatteo Santiago, nephew of the Alpha Apex and target of the rogue lion’s affections. The case takes a bizarre turn when the rogue lion is killed in a failed attack, but his death leaves more questions than answers. Talk of the true mated gay Alpha had reached the pack lands, but Philip had dismissed the talks as mere rumors. Now with the undeniable evidence all around him, Philip has to reevaluate all he has ever known and sacrificed.

When all the players are identified, one of the hunters appears to be the lost offspring of one of his own. Soon Philip will learn that his pack is more deeply involved in this plot than anyone had ever realized, and choices made long ago have explosive consequences today.

The death toll rises, but the case is far from over. In fact, it seems to be headed even closer to home.
